For centuries, northwestern Europe's agricultural sector intensified to meet growing demands, resulting in excessive nitrogen emissions, soil depletion, and biodiversity loss. This project aims to develop a socially just and sustainable agricultural strategy to resolve the nitrogen crisis by 2075. Through literature review and scenario building, it explores decentralization and sustainable land use, forming a conceptual framework. Using South Holland as a case study, the strategy includes new policies, technologies, and practices to reduce nitrogen emissions, guiding farmers towards sustainable agriculture. It also involves consumers and distribution companies in shorter supply chains, aiming to create a blueprint for a just, sustainable food system free from nitrogen pollution.
